It’s been a while since our last meetup event, but we are BACK! Sorry for the gap, just been super busy, but its time to jump back into it.
At this meetup event, we will dive into running databases in the cloud with Amazon’s relational database service, RDS. With this service, you can easily create data stores in the cloud at the click of a button, and start using them right away. There’s no operating system to speak of. Just create an RDS instance and away you go!
We will go over Amazon cloud services in general, and then talk about how to get a database up and running with RDS, whether its MySQL, Oracle, Postgres, or SQL Server. We will talk about how to set up high availability with RDS, and how to handle scaling up when your traffic grows. And since Amazon gives away a year’s worth of free usage, we will walk through a live demonstration!
This event will be held at the Miami Innovation Center on the FIRST floor meeting room. So be sure to check the location for address and directions! When you come in the main entrance of the building, go through the first door on the right into the shared workspace area. Also, bring in your parking ticket from the parking lot for validation at the machine in the lobby!
7:00pm – 7:30pm – Introductions
7:30pm – 8:30pm – Amazon RDS presentation and demonstration
8:30pm – 9:00pm – Networking
Questions can be asked throughout the event, as long as we all work together to stay on track so we can cover everything.
Slides and demo will be available on http://www.dbtekpro.com after the event.
